Human and Institutional Development (HID)

The overall development and management of the human resources of Bodhana is the focus area of HID department. The major objective of the department is to facilitate support for the strengthening of community-based organizations in our operational area. Imparting capacity building programmes for the members and staff are the other important objective of this department. HID department is working as a bridge between the community-based organizations and projects and programmes of Bodhana for the effective implementation and results.

Balabodhana

Children are the assets of a community and their minds are similar to magnets which capture all the information they see, hear and experience. Balabodhana aims to empower and strengthen the capacities of children and adolescents to emerge as socially responsible individuals contributing to the sustainable development of their own families and communities. Formation of new groups and the strengthening of the existing ones, Sensitization programs for children and adolescents, Nature camps, Career guidance & Personality Development training, ongoing monthly get-togethers, leadership sessions, Savings programmes, Cultural and literary promotion and competitions are the major programmes of Balabodhana.

Micro Insurance Programme

Bodhana has initiated a micro-insurance section under HID, to promote micro-insurance services to the most deprived sector in the community. It is observed that the major portion of the population in India have any coverage of insurance so far. In order to liaison various micro-insurance services to the needy in our operational area. Bodhana has joined in the network micro-insurance programme initiated by LIC of India. Two programmes of LIC, Jeevan Madhur and AA Bima Yojana are made available for the poor people.

Farmer’s Club

The farming community in Kerala, in general, is on the verge of collapse due to low productivity, high production cost, unpredictable price fluctuations and exploitative marketing systems. A permanent solution can be found out only through the united efforts of the farmers with effective leadership adopting modern technologies. Bodhana started this programme with the help of NABARD.

The mission of the club consists of effective intervention to help farmers in ecologically sound, economically viable and socially acceptable crop production, processing and marketing employing modern technologies and technical expertise. This requires equipping the farmers with related and updated information, arranging to get the advice of experts from time to and organizing marketing and processing with transparency to the best advantage of farmers.

Childline Project

CHILDLINE 1098 is a national 24X7 emergency outreach services for children in need of care and protection linking them to services for their long-term care and rehabilitation. Any child or concerned adult on behalf of the child can dial 1098 to access emergency assistance. CHILDLINE 1098 functions under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India. CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF), Mumbai is the national mother NGO for the CHILDLINE service in India. The XIth 5-year plan of the Government of India which introduced the comprehensive integrated child protection scheme (ICPS) had mandated that the CHILDLINE service must be available in each one of India’s 600+districts. CHILDLINE Pathanamthitta starts its functioning on 24th August 2011 in Pathanamthitta District. Bodhana, Tiruvalla Social Service Society serves as the collaborative agency of CHILDLINE Pathanamthitta.

Peoples Bank

There are many private agencies providing loan in high rates and the common man or a layperson prefers to go for the private agencies in spite of their high rates due to easy accessibility. But the future effect of this will be very fatal. In order to reduce this burden, Bodhana implemented a new scheme ‘Peoples Bank’, a Bank for common people, where common people deposit their money and they can take a loan from the bank at a low-interest rate.

Financial Literacy & Counseling Centre (FLCC)

Bodhana is the consultant of Financial Literacy Centre run by Federal Aswas Trust in collaboration with Federal Bank, which is controlled by Reserve Bank of India. The FLCC in Ranni Block Panchayath is functioning in Bodhana Regional Training Centre building at Chethomkara, Ranni. Through this centre, all the segments of the society got financial literacy in one form or other. The centre enables the common man to plan ahead of their life cycle needs and deals with unexpected emergencies without resorting any debt. It enables the common man to understand the need and benefits of the products and services of banks and inculcate savings habit and improve the effective use of services offered by banks.
